A 22-year-old Chicago man is being held on $100,000 bail after authorities say he used fraudulent barcodes to purchase and return electronic tablets at a Walmart store in Clarion County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Bishop Kenneth Chambers allegedly scanned discounted barcodes on his phone at a self-checkout to buy LeapFrog tablets at reduced prices before a female accomplice returned the items for full refunds. The incidents reportedly occurred April 18 and April 26, when store asset protection employees recognized Chambers and alerted troopers. He faces misdemeanor charges of retail theft and theft by unlawful taking and remains in the Clarion County Jail after failing to post bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 5.
