A police standoff in Elk County shut down part of Route 255, also known as Bennetts Valley Highway, for several hours Friday after a Weedville man allegedly threatened a neighbor with a weapon and barricaded himself inside his home.
According to WJAC news reports, the suspect was contained by Friday evening and there was no active threat to the public. The incident occurred near the intersection of Routes 255 and 555, where traffic was restricted and large trucks were detoured while local traffic was allowed through. Jay Township officials said the suspect had been involved in a previous standoff in June 2025 and was recently released from jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
